#73 – Randy Coffield
Defensive End – 6’3″ 226 lbs – 1972-1975
Randy Coffield was a three year starter that suffered through the worst stretch of football in Florida State history. In his three seasons as a letterman the Noles combined to win just 4 games finished 4-29. As a sophomore he endured the school only winless season in history as the Noles finished 0-11. Almost as if the school wishes to purge those seasons, statistics are hard to come by. Coffield did have some strong games with an 8 tackle performance against Texas Tech in 1975. In the 1976 NFL Draft, he was selected in the 10th Round by the Seattle Seahawks and spent one season there. He was a part of the first Seahawks team in 1976 before spending 2 seasons in New York with the Giants. For his career he played in 24 NFL games over 3 seasons. After his NFL career, Coffield returned to Tallahassee and became a firefighter in 1981.
