After contributing in a minor role in his first two seasons in Tallahassee, Johnathan Vickers missed the majority of the 2016 season after suffering a concussion. Vickers is the odds on favorite to take over the fullback spot vacated by Freddie Stevenson after three years in the role. Vickers, a local product out of North Florida Christian, came to Florida State a 3* running back. He could be featured in multiple ways this season with his versatility and background as a running back.

DeCalon Brooks is a true freshman out of Tampa, Florida. He was a consensus 3* out of high school. Slightly undersized, Brooks is said to have a great nose for the football and has excellent speed. DeCalon is the son of Florida State great, Derrick Brooks, who has his #10 jersey retired at FSU.
