#11 – John Franklin III

Quarterback/Wide Receiver – 6’0″ 180 lbs – RS Freshman

John Franklin III is a redshirt freshman quarterback that spent last season as the scout team quarterback.  He was a dual threat signal caller in high school that used his tremendous speed to give defenses fits.  A member of the FSU track team, Jackson ran both the 60 meter dash, 100 meter dash, and the 4×100 relay for the Seminoles this past spring.  With all of that speed and explosion with the ball, Jimbo Fisher and the Noles have started giving Franklin some looks at wide receiver during fall camp.  Sean Maguire seems to have earned a stranglehold on the back-up quarterback position, so Franklin has the freedom to be used in other situations for the Noles and could give them another threat with trackstar speed with the ball in his hands.

#11 – Derrick Mitchell, Jr.

Defensive Tackle – 6’4″ 303 lbs – RS Junior

Derrick Mitchell is hoping to finally remain healthy and have a significant contribution heading into his redshirt junior season.  After redshirting in 2011, Mitchell missed all of 2012 with a back injury that threatened to end his career.  He was able to work himself back in 2013, however, and played in 8 games in mostly a reserve role on the defensive line.  With the interior of the defensive line posing the most question marks in several years, however, he will be expected to make a bigger impact in 2014 and provide quality depth.  A very solid 4* prospect with good quickness out of high school, the talent is there if Mitchell can just remain healthy.
