#30 – Colin Blake
Defensive Back – 6’3″ 205 lbs – RS Sophomore
Colin Blake enters his redshirt sophomore year as almost an afterthought at this point. Blake was someone who coaches and recruitniks were pretty high on coming out of high school in Texas. He has great size at 6’3″ and is a versatile guy who has the ability to play corner and the size to play safety. Unfortunately, his freshman season was derailed by injury and he was playing in arguably the most loaded position group in the country last season. Adding that up, we’ve seen very little of Blake on defense. That’s certainly not to say he hasn’t contributed, though, as he appeared in 11 games in 2013 starting most of the season on the kick return team and playing some on kick coverage. It won’t be any easier for Blake to see a lot of action in the secondary in 2014, either, with a loaded defensive backfield Blake will be down the depth chart a little at free safety to start the season.
