#38 – Cason Beatty
Punter – 6’3″ 227 lbs – Junior
Cason Beatty has been the Noles starting punter the last two seasons with, at best, mixed results. Possibly the most vilified player on the team by the teams fans during the National Championship run, his season last year really wasn’t all that bad. He improved his average by nearly 3 yards to 41.1 yards in 2013 and had 12 punts downed inside the 20 yard line compared to just 2 punts that went for touchbacks. That hasn’t stopped rumor and rumblings that the Noles might give another punter a shot in 2014, including freshman quarterback J.J. Cosentino, though the likelihood of that is extremely small in my opinion.
