58 Days Until Seminole Football

No Current #58

#58 – Peter Boulware

Defensive End – 6’5″ 255 lbs – 1993-1996

It’s pretty simple.  Peter Boulware is the most dominating rush end in the history of Florida State, and is right up there in the conversation of the best in college football history.  Amazing anticipation, ridiculous quickness for a man of his size, and speed that should be reserved for linebackers or safeties, Boulware made a career out of making offensive tackles look silly.  He showed a glimpse of that promise as a redshirt freshman in 1995 with 5 sacks and 37 tackles. Then he exploded for his redshirt sophomore and junior season.  In 1995 he would double his previous sack total bringing the quarterback down 10 times with 46 total tackles.  The following season he would rewrite the Seminole record book while being named an NCAA Consensus All-American, National Defensive Player of the Year, and All-ACC,  That year he would finish with a record 19 sacks and 68 tackles while forcing 4 fumbles.  Amazingly he didn’t leave Tallahassee with the career sack record, that (by 1.5 sacks) went to the guy on the other side of the defensive line, Reinard Wilson.  Boulware left after his stellar junior season and was selected in the 1st round with the 4th overall pick by the Baltimore Ravens.  He would pick up right where he left off earning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and making the Pro-Bowl 3 times in his 9 year career.  He was elected to the FSU Hall of Fame in 2004.
