#66 – Dick Hermann
Linebacker – 6’0″ 200 lbs – 1962-1964
Dick Hermann was a 3 year starter at linebacker who helped lead one of the best defenses in the nation. In 1964, FSU finest season to date at the time, the Nole defense gave up just 6.6 points per game and 181 yards per game on a ridiculous 3.3 yards per play. Hermann played a large part of that as the leader of the “Seven Magnificents” named for the outstanding play of the front seven. He was awarded the Crenshaw Award in ’64 as the Seminole With the Biggest Heart. In 1985 he was elected to the FSU Hall of Fame. Hermann was signed as a free agent by the Oakland Raiders in 1965 and spent one season in Oakland playing in 14 games.
