#69 – Joey Ionata

Offensive Tackle – 6’3″ 262 lbs – 1984-1988

Joey Ionata was a 3 year letterman on the offensive line for the Noles during their emergence in the mid/late 80s into a dominant national team.  His junior and senior year he was a part of the first two years of the dynasty paving the way for a great Seminole running game featuring Sammy Smith, Dexter Carter, et al.  In 1988 he was named an AP All-American Honorable Mention.  After college, Joe spent the next 15 years in the coaching profession as graduate assistants at East Carolina, UGA, West Georgia, and Clemson before becoming a teacher and head coach at Countryside High School in Clearwater, FL.  Since 2005, Ionata has worked in the financial services industry and currently lives in the Tampa/St Pete area and recently started Sunshine State Settlements.
