#9 – Karlos Williams
Karlos Williams is a 6’1″ 230 lbs defensive back out of Davenport, FL. Williams is entering his junior year at Florida State vying for a starting position at safety. While there is a chance that Tyler Hunter is named the starter, Williams will see the field a lot in a versatile role. One of the best overall athletes on the team, he has a unique combination of size, strength, and sprinter’s speed that allows him to play multiple positions. In 2012 he served most of the season as a back up safety, but started at linebacker in the ACC Championship game making 11 tackles with a game clenching interception. Williams will be on the field a lot both in a safety spot and closer to the line in a linebacker position. In addition to his impact on defense, Williams will again be returning kickoffs for the Seminoles. He led the team last year with a 26.2 yard average return and should help give the Noles good starting field position again in 2013.
#9 – Levonte Whitfield
Levonte “Kermit” Whitfield is a 5’7″ 178 lbs wide receiver out of Orlando, FL. What Whitfield lacks in size, he makes up for in pure speed. He was the fastest player out of high school in the 2013 class with a 4.37 40 yard time in the ESPN database. He’s also the reigning Florida State Champion in the 100m and 200m and has run a 10.21 in the 100m. With the loss of three wide receivers that were expected to contribute in 2013, Whitfield has a chance to make an impact on offense giving the Noles the ability to stretch the field. During fall camp, he has been working as a kick returner as well and there is a possibility he opens the season next to Karlos Williams back deep for the Noles. As the both wear the number 9, if this becomes a reality than Whitfield will most likely be changing his number.
Kendyll Pope
Kendyll Pope was a 6’2″ 220 linebacker out of Lake City, FL. Pope was a 4 year letterman and 3 year starter for the Seminoles from 2000-03. He made an immediate impact his freshman season recording 52 tackles with an interception as a backup linebacker. His performance earned him 1st Team All-American honors from both The Sporting News and Football News. Pope earned a starting spot the following year as a sophomore and responded by finishing second on the team in tackles with 113 including 7 tackles for loss. He also picked off 2 passes and had 5 pass break-ups. In 2002, he led the team in tackles with 131 stops with 12 tackles for loss, a great number for a linebacker. Pope also had 2 interceptions, including one returned 13 yards for a touchdown against Florida. As a senior in 2003, Pope saw his numbers dwindle as he battled injuries throughout the season missing 3 games. He still managed to make 56 tackles on the season and had 3 sacks. He finished his career 10th All-Time in FSU history with 352 tackles
Pope was drafted in the 4th Round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He spent two seasons with the Colts appearing in 2 games in 2004, but suspended the entire season in 2005.
